Chapter 3

Why is it important/not important to have shelter for the little ones?

It is important so that they are separated from the big'uns. Also when the wind is up they don't get swallowed by the tendrils.

What are the various jobs assigned to the boys?

Some jobs are making the shelter which no one was very rapt in making.

Why aren't they carried out?

They became lazy in making the shelters and do not try very hard.

What do you feel is the most important for survival?

The most important thing for survival is the signal fire whose smoke is opaque.

Describe Simon. (If you are Simon, describe yourself)

I say that he is a nice little, inscrutable boy.

What do you think will happen on this island if you don’t get rescued soon?

We will turn into savages and kill each other.

Why don’t you get along with Jack (in this chapter)?

He just has a compulsion to try to be the top chief instead of being happy with hunter chief.
So I died a few days ago, and piggy and Ralph are talking about my death. Ralph is arguing that my death is murder but i guess that piggy is in denile or something. I died why wont he accept it already.

i sorry that Wilfred had to be beaten and tied up. i think that jack is also in denile because he said that i was the "beastie" in disguise of me. also why were they thinking of attacking Ralph's side of the island.

when jack attacked ralph and his tribe i was devastated, they were attacking each other! meanwhile jack's tribe was stealing their fire and piggy's glasses.

Chapter 9

The person that I think killed Simon was Jack. I think it was Jack because he was the one who started getting people chanting "kill the beast, cut its throat, spill its blood!" This motivated the others into a killing frenzy. Jack also was the one added the phrase "do him in!" which is what the Lord of the Flies tells Simon. Jack was also one of the people inside the circle who chased Simon off the cliff and tore him limb from limb. Since Jack was the leader of the group that killed Simon I think this is what makes him guilty.

Chapter 8

In this scene Simon is walking through the forest as he is walking he starts to get hot. Then he goes to the rocky spot where the Lord of the Flies is when he got there he laid down mean while he was down he got a bloody nose. After a while he heard a voice when he looked up, the pigs head was talking to him. The pigs head says that he is the beast and the beast isn't something you can hunt and kill. At the end the pigs head said that everyone will "do him in." This means that everyone was going to kill Simon. After this was said I had the feeling that Simon was going to die. After he said that Simon felt that he was going into the darkness that was inside the pig/Lord of the Flies head. When Simon was inside the darkness he fainted. When putting yourself in Simon's body and you are talking to the Lord of the Flies at first there is the thought that you are going mad. Then you get a small fear inside of you then you get so scared that you lose consciousness. I think that this was the most terrifying part because of the fear Simon must have felt.

What is the game the boys play after spearing the pig?

We were poking and "hunting" Robert. We were mocking bravado.

Who spears the pig?

I spear the pig!

What does Jack suggest as a substitute?

He suggests a littleun and we all crack up, we were not dun.

What does this foreshadow?

That jack will imperviously kill the littleuns and take control of the island.

What evidence did the boys find to prove that there is a beast? (Why are they so gullible?)

SamnEric came back yelling that there is a beast and it had claws and huge teeth the thing that made it more convincing was that he was tangled in the trees and when the wind picked up he looked like he was looking over the horizon. he also was looking over the moors.

What did you daydream about home?

I dreamed about how safe I was at my house and all of the happiness that my house radiated, and the smell of the chicken cooking in the brine.

Chapter 5

Why is an assembly called?
Ralph called the assembly to put down rules and regain order. I feel that these rules are a good idea because we will be able keep order while we wait to be saved.

What concerns are brought up?
He brings up the facts that almost no one worked on the final two huts. The third hut is almost falling down. He also brings up that the littluns are going to the bathroom near the fruit which contaminates their food supply. He also brings up that the signal fire has to be going at all times.

How do you feel about those concerns?
I feel that the rules are a good idea to keep order until we get rescued. I think Ralph is right about the signal fire because what if a ship comes, it would be ludicrous if we missed it again.

How are things breaking up (falling apart)?
Everyone is splitting up into two groups. If we split up into two groups it wont be an effigy of a good government. No one is pulling their weight like when we were building the huts. Only Ralph and I worked on the final hut and it turned out shaky and about to fall.

Why do you think the littluns cry in their sleep?
The littluns always have lamentation rising out of them because they are scared of the beastie coming out of the water. They have nightmares and they cry out in their sleep while no one comforts them.

What was Percival Wemys Madison afraid of?
Percival was afraid of the beastie which he said comes out of the water. He says that he saw it right before he fell asleep right after he said the incantation of his address.

What do you think is “the dirtiest thing there is” about human nature?
Sometimes we lose our decorum and got to the bathroom wherever we feel like going. The other thing that I think is bad is how we get enraged about things like missing the boat.

Explain the passage written about you: “Simon became inarticulate in his effort to express mankind’s essential illness. Inspiration came to him. What’s the dirtiest thing there is?”
Simon means that there is a beastie inside all of them meaning that when the littluns cry out they are seeing the evil inside them and they are thinking it's the beastie.

What are you suggesting about human nature when you ask that question?
It means that all of us have evil inside us and that is the dirtiest thing about human nature.

Jack interview

What sign comes down from the grown up world?
The plane crashed and the dead aviator is at the mountain top.
Why aren’t the boys aware of it?
We were asleep.
Why are Sam ‘n Eric so terrified?
They thought they were looking at a monster.
How do Sam ‘n Eric describe the beast?
They said it had wings, teeth, and claws.
What is the attitude of the boys when going off to look for the beast?
They were nervous.
Is there really a beast? How do you know?
No if there was a beast it would have shown up by now
Why do you really not care about being rescued?
Before we get rescued I want to crush Ralph's authority
